It became clear that my spanish still needs so much work.. i was lost.
the weather is great.

tu quiere me?

Boy am i sure glad(southern accent) that i did not update this blog yesterday! it would have been blossoming in coarse and hostile words.

After a 24 hour hour bus ride from rosarita i arrived in la paz on monday morning.. once there it became clear that a ferry to the main land was going to be just as expensive as a flight. i flew into mazatlan for 150usd... if adding this to the 127usd for the bus i could have hve just flown right here in the first place. what a bummer.. or perhaps blessing in disguise. the latter i hope.
once here i spent four hours waiting for a bus to the city..i arrived and finally managed to scramble to the beach through the grided grimy streets of the shanty town.
I guess not all would consider it a blessing to find a hotel with rooms for only 25usd, but when i had this building in full view i felt like i was under the full care of the creator.

THis morning i had the first surf in almost a week.. a shame.

It is highly likely that i will fall in love once i leave this cafe.. it has already happened 10times since the morning!

anyhoo... time up on the internet so i guess i´ll try update in about two days.
take care all

ps. super cool hurricane outside.. you got to love the tropics.

Algonas veces me gosta tomo cerveza

Well tonight is the night that we've all been waiting for... especially my mom and dad who are worried sick about my coming down with yellow fever etc.

approx. 9pm is departure time for Mexico! The first town i will be staying in is just a little south of Ensenada and the surf break is called Las Gaviotas which means 'the sea gulls' (at least thats what i got from the dictionary, any corrections are greatly appreciated;).

I have no idea what access to the net will look like during the next couple of days on Baja California... I hope to be able to get something on this blog as soon as pos.

Here's a pic of Gerrald and I. The surfer whom I was lucky enough to meet on the bus as his family accomodated me for the past week.

The waves at this beach are absolute. Almost like the Vodka

There is a program which is based in Phoenix, Arizona. It's called the flying Samaritans and it's a whole bunch of ppl who volunteer to help out in various parts of Mexico and central america... the volunteers are flown from place to place in these little bush planes and the whole thing just sounds like something I'd really love to be doing... I sent an email out and was told that if i got to Phoenix tomorrow I could join them on there next mission to loreto for just 70USD.. thats by far the best price for any volunteer program I have come across, but sadly i Wouldnt get to Phoenix on time... Mom and dad, I'll have to come back next year.

Another bite into the apple

Yesterday i finally found my place in san diego... a beach called blacks at the foot of these orange cliffs that was delivering some pretty perfect 2-4ft lefts.. wow. the surf wasnt too crowded and the multitude of sand banks was providing plenty a wave. I didn't catch too many as my poor shape didn't permit this, but there were some awesome ones tha came my way.

I leave for mexico with ppl from here on thursday and shall stay with them on Baja Norte till sunday, after this I am on My own and will hopefully be able to get into the depths of mexico for a good 15days.

Sandy-A-go

The sun is definately shining and the weather is bright... after landing in long beach a bus journey got me to San Diego.

The surf is pretty dissapointing at the moment but there are still some waves to be had. I am staying with the family of a surfer whom I met on the bus down here, they have been awesome but a little too controling. For this reason I am probably going to depart for Mexico as soon as I can.
Tuesday sounds like a plan.

For my fellow Capetonians:
It gives ne pleasure to announce Cape Town's superior beauty when comparing to everywhere that I have been so far.

The image of california that had filled my imagination prior to arriving here was very different to the one before me now. this place is a dessert.

The surfing scene is very built up and there is a lot more money in it here.

Most of the people with surfboards at the beach dont really surf.

Lots of muscley and bronzed up guys, and many made up girls.

'You can't make chicken sandwiches from chiken shit'...

time up for Boston and I.

It's thursday night and in one hour I shall be heading for the airport where I'll sleep in the terminal till 5am tomorrow. That's the time at which I'm guesin I'll board the jet blue flight to Longbeach, Cali.

Last few days in Boston have been quite hectic, lots of running around trying to bid the many new friends farewell. Funny how you can be saying goodbye to something new.. time flies.

tuesday was my last day in the OR, and it was very interesting... I also got to attend at an autopsy which was very hectic.
The deceased had died from the many complications caused by portal hypertension.

At this moment It's hard to tell where the road will take me. It would be great to spend some time surfing Huntington beach but if this will be to complicated I think that the bus to San Diego will be my next move.

It may become a little harder to keep updating this blog.. I havent been to dilligent about it even with a compuiter at my disposal, but I hope ya'll keep reading. I'll try my best.

It has also come to my attention that there are many Readers who choose to visit bite-the-apple in stealth mode! So if youre one of those people, Please drop a lonely guy a comment!

Photos may become a problem but I guarranty a magnificent gallery once I get back to europe..
My landlords have just returned home from scavenging the neighborhood for furniture ppl have put out for the refuse guys..
America's nuts!

Anyway. I hope everyone in the world I know Is happy. My best wishes and please give word of your adventures

till next time, I'm george and this is your favorite butter spreading network;)

'What would jesus drive?'> from who killed the electric car

The past month in Boston has turned me in to quite the movie go'er.
I have been watching mostly Hollywood releases like 'the devil wears prada', 'you me and dupree', 'Click' etc. All the movies mentioned above are great, but I should also mention the fact that there are fantastic independent movie theatres here. Today I watched a documentary called 'who killed the electric car' at one with a fellow saffa whom I know since the age of six. Guys and girls watch this if you can... maybe I am giving it too much credit as I really love the whole oil company conspiracy stuff.

Other than documentary viewing I was also Lucky enough to spend my Sunday afternoon in the hospital writing up a draft case review on Friday's Cystic Hygroma in the mesentery of the small bowel excision.
I was given this oportunity by Dr. Elizabeth Raskin who is definately my Boston Medical heroine! Appart from being an incredible surgeon, she is a great person and a supporter of the Springboks (South Africa's national rugby team).

I guess thats all from my side.. Can you imagine how damn excited I am for going surfing on Friday!
I think I may have to delay my breakfast plans with Angelina Jolie and go for a dawnie.
